UK Acknowledges the Impact of NSRP Intervention in Addressing VAWG

21st December 2017

The UK government has released a report detailing various cross-Government actions that it has undertaken to improve gender equality, tackle sexual violence in conflict, and protect vulnerable people in conflict zones from sexual exploitation and abuse.

As expected this report featured copiously, the efforts of NSRP in domesticating the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women Peace and Security (WPS), the development of a National Action Plan (NAP) and the monitoring and reporting of incidents of sexual abuse and violence against women and girls (VAWG) using the Observatory platform.

NSRP regards this as a recognition of the impact its intervention has had in Nigeria, UK and globally, especially regarding the protection of vulnerable and excluded groups. It is important to highlight that efforts undertaken by the UK in this regard is also informing the intervention in other countries. Please read the full report.
